Eli couldn’t help but smile back before looking down at his laptop. The screen showed the depressing sight of a empty Word document with nothing but the header typed up and ready to go. “Just interrupting me from hitting my head against the wall over and over again…”
Charlie shifted his weight from one foot to the other before inviting himself to take a seat across from the male. “What exactly are you supposed to be writing?” He asked, tilting his head to the side with said signature raised eyebrows. “I would totally help if I could, but I don’t think I would do a very good job.”
Things could have been worse. Instead of being alone and cold taking a walk on the street by himself, Charlie could have been starving and drunk with no money in his pockets. Or at least that’s what he kept telling himself as he breathed in the thick air around him and rubbed over his facial hair that he hadn’t really had the time or place to take care of these past few days.
Since his legs were starting to ache from staying on his feet all day, he decided he wanted to take a break. He looked up with his cloudy eyes only to see a bench up ahead, near the small park he would always have to pass on his way to the cafe he always liked to go to. With a small hum (and not one of those necessarily happy ones, either), he made his way over and sat on the far right of it, breathing out a sigh of relief as he relaxed his legs out in front of him. It didn’t really occur to him that he could trip someone that was in a hurry that way, but he didn’t really care at that moment, anyway.
He didn’t notice there was a girl on the other side of the bench until he heard the faint sound of sniffling coming from it. The male looked up and over at her, raising his eyebrows curiously, “Um, hey,” He knew this was going to be awkward, but he wanted to know if she was crying or not and why. He moved over a bit to get a closer look at her, “Hey, are you okay? It’s awfully cold out here,” He gave himself points for asking her a question and then trying to break the ice, maybe he wouldn’t seem as tough as he looked now.
Eli heard the stranger’s words and glanced over at his direction. He didn’t even notice that the other was there, but it didn’t bother him, he had said worse in front of another before. “I don’t even know, if I go Magic Mike, they seem to get paid very well.”
Charlie stuffed his hands into the short pockets of his jean sweater. “Huh…” He swirled the thought around in his mind for a moment before nodding as if he was done taking mental notes on the subject. “That’s a bright idea,” Then he smiled at the lad, “I’m sorry, was I interrupting?” He shrugged his shoulders. “How rude of me.”

"I can’t focus on anything anymore. I think I’m gonna call it quits and become a pole dancer. At least then I wouldn’t have to think about writing papers.."
Blinking, the boy rose his eyebrows at the stranger, but just as he was about to call him crazy, a light bulb lit over his head. “Do those get paid well?” He asked, as if this guy would know or even take him seriously for that matter.
